"Hi, I am Annette White and I have been the Victorian Coordinator since late 2009. Our first camp with my family was held in March 2010 in Balnarring with another three families. We made valuable and lasting friendships that weekend. I work part time both as an Office Coordinator two days a week and at home as a naturopath/deep muscle therapy treatments. I am particularly aware, as a practitioner, of the stress on the entire family who are involved in looking after children with special needs. This is why I volunteer my time with Camp Autism to help other families, even if only for a short time, to really relax and enjoy their weekend away.
"I continue to network with families, their needs and requests about many aspects of dealing with life on the autism spectrum. Both my children - Bailey (HFA) and his little sister Holly - really enjoy meeting new and old friends and get excited every time we head off to “camp”. Our last camp saw 30 families get together – and not one argument during that time, just lots of fun, laughter and many plans made to catch up again with new friends.
